Suzuki Ichiro (51, Japan), who heated up the Major League Baseball (MLB), became the first Asian player to enter the MLB Hall of Fame.안전놀이터

The American Baseball Journalists Association (BBWAA), which selects the Hall of Fame inductee, announced the results of this year's vote on the 22nd (Korea time). Ichiro won 393 votes out of 394 votes, winning 99.75 percent of the vote.

The biggest concern for the Hall of Fame vote was whether Ichiro was unanimously inducted or not. In MLB history, only Mariano Rivera (2019), who is synonymous with a closer, has been unanimously inducted into the Hall of Fame.

It is unanimous that legendary players such as Derek Jeter (2020, 99.75% of the vote), Ken Griffey Jr. (2016, 99.32% of the vote), Tom Seaver (1992, 98.84%), Nolan Ryan (1999 and 98.79%), Carl Ripken Jr. (2007, 98.53%), and Ty Cobb (1936 and 98.23%) also failed.

Like Jeter in 2020, Ichiro was just one vote short of unanimous decision. After playing for the Orix Buffaloes in the Japanese pro baseball league, Ichiro joined the MLB in 2001 by signing a contract with the Seattle Mariners. From his first year across the Pacific, Ichiro began his journey of legend by accumulating hits with tremendous momentum. As a rookie in 2001, Ichiro had 242 hits, winning the Rookie of the Year award and the Most Valuable Player award. He had 3,089 hits during 19 seasons in the Big League alone, and left a total of 4,257 hits in the professional baseball history (1,278).
